InsulatorMeasurementConsiderations

Insulatorsmaygetcontaminatedovertimefromamixtureofdustandmoisture.Dustand

moistureproblemslowertheresistanceofthe insulatorasthisresistanceisinparallelwiththe

insulatorresistance.Itisrecommendedthattheinsulatorbemeasuredfirstwithouttheoptional

guardlead,toverifythatthe

totalresistanceishigh.Shouldthetotalresistancenotbehigh

enough,thecontaminantsshouldberemovedortheinsulatorreplaced.Testthedirtyinsulator

forproperresistancebytestingwiththeoptionalguardlead.Note:Ifcleaningtheinsulatoris

possible,followtheprocedureofthemanufacturer.


